Safety, Health, Environment & Quality
Our SHEQ team continuously reviews our health, safety environment and quality standards and procedures and communicates areas for improvement. Good communication with the operations is essential to ensure that high standards are operating each and every day. We seek to stay ahead of new legislation and regulation and seek to operate best practice and the team manages an Integrated Management System combining all SHEQ areas. Our ISO/OHSAS certifications require continual development of new procedures and our SHEQ team seeks to ensure that we meet all legal and licence requirements efficiently and in full.
Our fleet of 50 ro-ro and skip lorries are equipped with the latest tracking and efficiency software and operate to the highest safety standards. Our drivers are Class 1 and Class 2 drivers with CPC and are based in the West Midlands, North London and Seaham in the North East. All our drivers operate to the highest standards of driving efficiency and safety standards.
Our site operatives are responsible for efficiently and safely handling, processing and sorting all the material we receive into high quality scrap metals ready for sale to mills and refineries. Depending on the activities carried out at the specific site operatives may carry out many different duties from burning, sorting and inspection to operating processing equipment such as balers, shears, forklifts or cranes. All operatives are fully trained in the equipment they operate and are expected to operate to the highest safety standards.
Our weighbridge operators must accurately identify and record the weight and grade of all material that arrives at each site and that leaves each site. Every movement of material into and out of the business is recorded over the weighbridges using the Microsoft Navision commercial software which is linked to the weighbridges. Our weighbridge operators are given training to recognise the different grades of metals and to ensure that all movements are accurately recorded. This is essential to ensure that the company pays correctly for material it buys and records every sale accurately.
Our administrative staff carry out many varied roles from invoicing and payments to transport planning and booking, customer contract processing and stock reconciliation, to customer performance reports to task administration. The company uses the MS Navision software for its finance and administration management. Accuracy and professionalism are key attributes of all our staff and in all our dealings with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
